Joseph W. Tombs, JD, MBA, MS, CLU, ChFC, ARM, CFP®
Chairman of the Board
Joe serves as a partner in Amicus Financial Advisors, LLP and owns the Amicus Consulting Group, LLC. He also serves as an adjunct professor of settlement planning at Texas Tech University. He has worked as a tax and estate planning attorney, an Associate VP of First Colony Life Insurance Company (Genworth), and on the faculties of Texas Tech University, University of Louisiana, University of Georgia and Georgia State University. Joe’s education includes JD and MBA degrees from Texas Tech University and he holds the CFP®, ARM, CLU and ChFC designations. He is a founding member and the President-Elect of the Society of Settlement Planners. Joe has published numerous articles in financial planning journals on topics related to settlement and financial planning.
Jack L. Meligan, CSSC, BCFE

Jack has been involved in the financial services industry since 1979, first as a Financial Analyst and then as a Registered Investment Advisor. Jack has specialized in the structured settlement marketplace, with special emphasis on comparative analysis of structured annuities vs. alternative investment options. He is the author of several articles regarding structured settlements, holds the designation of Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC) and is a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners (ACFE). Jack is a founding member and past-President of the Society of Settlement Planners.
Richard Bishop, CSSC

Rick is a Principal of Settlement Professionals, Inc. Rick has been involved in the financial services industry since 1974, first as a financial planner and then as a structured settlement consultant. Mr. Bishop has taught seminars on the benefits of structured settlements for the Consumer Attorneys of California and is a past member of the faculty of the National Judicial College. Rick is a founding member and past-President of the Society of Settlement Planners. Rick is a past member of the board of directors of the Central Coast Claims Association and is a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, The National Structured Settlements Trade Association and a number of local claims associations in California. Rick holds the CSSC designation.
Tim Nay, JD, MSW, MS
Board Member
Tim has combined decades of clinical social work experience and legal expertise to develop an insightful, innovative and people-friendly approach to estate and special needs planning. He is the founding President of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and was recognized in 1992 as a Fellow of the Academy. Tim is a past President of the Oregon Gerontological Association, past Chair and founding member of the Elder Law Section of the Oregon State Bar and the immediate past President of the Oregon Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. He is Chair, Amicus Brief Committee-National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (2003-2004) and also a member of the Medicaid Task Force-National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (2003-present). He is a founding member and current secretary of the National Alliance of Medicare Set Aside Professionals. Tim serves on the board of directors of the Society of Settlement Planners. Tim is a member of the Oregon State and Washington State Bar Associations.
Chuck Derenne

Chuck is the president of Premier Settlement Services, Inc. Chuck is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater College of Business and Economics. He was among the country's first structured settlement professionals and one of the earliest members of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association. He has written newsletters on various structured settlement issues and has conducted seminars for mandatory continuing legal education in several states. Chuck is a founding member, past-President, and Board Member in the Society of Settlement Planners. Chuck is also a member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association.
Paul Lesti
Board Member
Paul serves as President of Lesti Structured Settlements, Inc. He has over 20 years of settlement planning experience. Paul is the author of Structured Settlements (Thomson West Publishers, 1993) and the co-author of numerous articles for Trial, National Trial Lawyer, The American Bar Association Journal, and other professional publications. He has consulted with The Wall Street Journal, CBS and other media regarding litigation economic issues. Paul is a member of the National Structured Settlement Trade Association and is a founding member, past President and current Director of the Society of Settlement Planners. He has a degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and received his certification as a Certified Structured Settlement Consultant from the University of Notre Dame.
Anthony Alfieri, JD
Board Member
Anthony is the President of Settlement Professionals Inc. of Washington. Anthony earned a B.S. in Finance and a J.D. from Gonzaga University. Anthony has worked as a plaintiff-loyal structured settlement planner. Anthony has also practiced law, specializing in personal injury litigation. He is a founding member of the Society of Settlement Planners and has served as its President and Legal Committee Chair. Anthony is responsible for several initiatives to improve claimant rights in structured settlement transactions.
Greg Maxwell, JD, MS, CFP®
Board Member
Greg has practiced as a settlement planner and attorney since 2002. Greg started his career with Settlement Professional, Inc. in Portland, Oregon where he served as a settlement planner. In 2004, Greg became a founding partner of Amicus Financial Advisors LLP, a firm specializing in settlement and financial planning for injury victims. Greg also practices law with a specialty in the unique legal needs of injury victims. His education includes a BA degree from Brigham Young University, an MS in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University, and a JD degree from Texas Tech University School of Law. Greg also holds the CFP® designation. He is the current President of the Society of Settlement Planners, and is a member of the Utah State Bar, the Financial Planning Association, and the Utah Trial Lawyer’s Association.
